Cozy Up with an NM Read

NM reads
Looking for a new read to welcome the cooler fall temperatures? Reach for these local words: Blossoms of Steel by Pablo White, My Land Sings by Rudolfo Anaya, and Bless Me Ultima also by Rudolfo Anaya.

Blossoms of Steel recounts modern life on a oil rig. The language and the feel of the novel smacks of authenticity of the region. Pablo White was native New Mexican and resident of Artesia. In his professional career, he worked as a petroleum engineer for Summit Energy and Paul G. White Engineering before completing his novel in 1995.

Rudolfo Anaya, author of both Bless Me Ultima and My Land Sings, helped found Chicano literature in the United States. He was raised in the Pecos Valley of New Mexico around Santa Rosa. His descriptions of the desert, the people, and lore of the region captures the very spirit of New Mexico.

Check these books out at the Artesia Public Library, Carlsbad Public Library, or purchase them on Amazon.
