Virginia Spruiell

Virginia Futch Spruiell passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 27, 2021 of natural causes at the age of 85. She is survived by her devoted husband Roy Spruiell, and her adopted family, Bart and Jan Williamson.

Virginia was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on March 30, 1936. She was the apple of her father’s eye, and she said she had a doting mother.
Virginia has had some amazing friend for well over 70 years. Girls from the class of 1954 still get together once a month at Pizza Inn to keep in touch. Some attributes that her friends had to say about her was that she loved classical music, was extremely intelligent, helped others culturally, she was a talented pianist and violinist, loved square dancing, and was an avid reader.
She was the Valedictorian for the class of 1954 as well as a member of the Honor Society in high school.
Roy and Virginia were married 61 years. They enjoyed reading and raising numerous generations of Siamese cats together. They worked together to organize the reunions for their classmates.
Nobody could say that Virginia was an underachiever. She was a very accomplished woman. Some of her achievements included being a CPA for over 25 years, being President of the American Society of Woman Accountants- El Paso Chapter, a member of Texas Society of CPA, member of American Woman’s Society of CPA, AAUW life member and past president of Las Cruces Branch and Carlsbad Branch, and a member and Parliamentarian of NM AAUW. Virginia was also P.E.O. (Chapter BB) member since 2000 past treasurer and president as well as a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR). If this wasn’t enough, she also was a board member and treasurer for the El Paso Shelter for Battered Women.
The memorial service will be held at Paradise Chapel on October 5, 2021 at 11:00 am. It is located around 6 miles past the Ford Dealership off of the Artesia Hwy on the right. Follow the signs. Luncheon will be held immediately after the memorial.
