Carlsbad Mayor’s Energy Summit

Do you know someone who is hardworking?

The pieces are coming together very nicely for the 2021 Carlsbad Mayor’s Energy Summit, which is planned for Oct. 21 at the Walter Gerrells Performing Arts and Exhibition Center. We held last year’s summit virtually due to COVID-19. We are planning an in person event this year.

Speaker bios and other information will soon be available on the Carlsbad Community Foundation’s web page https://carlsbadfoundation.org/summit. Thank you to the many sponsors who have expressed interest in supporting this year’s event.

The energy summit was developed years ago as a way of getting together with members of the energy industry to try to get a little understanding of what we can expect in the future. Over the years, it has grown into one of the biggest and best summits in the country. That’s just as important this year as it ever has been, and we are looking forward to a good discussion.

We’re very excited to have Vicki Hollub, CEO of Occidental Petroleum, as one of our planned speakers this year, as well as Kent Hance, the former Chancellor of Texas Tech University. We’ve also received confirmation from Clay Gaspar, the Chief Operating Officer with Devon Energy; Eric Osmond, the Senior Vice President of Crestwood; Josh Viets, ConocoPhillips’ Vice President of the Delaware Basin; and NMED Secretary James Kenney. Of course, we always like to have one special motivational speaker at our energy summit, and this year we are planning on none other than football legend Tony Dorsett.

Attendance at the summit is free and we hope you’ll join us. Please RSVP your attendance to Alexia Long at aalong@cityofcarlsbadnm.com.  We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation, but we are hopeful that we are pushing past the Delta uptick and returning to normal.

From the office of Mayor Dale Janway
