Fishing Conditions and Trip Planner LogoFishing Conditions and Trip Planner

Over the past few months the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has developed several tools to help you learn about fishing conditions across the state and to help you plan your trip.

  • Each week the Department produces the Fishing Report. Driven by angler input, the Fishing Report highlights public waters across the state, what bait is working and of course the fishing hot spots.
  • Using Fishing Report data, biologists developed charts  to show when fishing is best at different waters and for different species in the Fishing Conditions and Trip Planner. You can search by the water body or the fish species.
  • The Department’s newest release is the interactive Fishing Waters Map with a wealth of information on fishing locations in New Mexico. It displays hundreds of fishing access points with information of fish species available, facilities, accessibility, boat ramps and general regulations.

Need help learning to use these tools and the Fishing Rules and Information Booklet? You can view our recent webinar with biologists on the Department’s Facebook Page.
