Old Lincoln Days return August 6-8

Lincoln Historic Site will once again come alive with the return of Old Lincoln Days. From Aug. 6 to Aug. 8, experience history where it happened with three days of fun for all ages in one of the most legendary towns in America.

Take a trip to New Mexico during the 1870s and 1880s and explore museums and historic buildings, interact with living historians, enjoy activities, watch a reenactment of one Lincoln’s many bloody gun-battles, learn about the town’s history from a notable speaker, listen to live music, grab a bite to eat, and walk the grounds where Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and other characters of the Old West roamed.

The festivities culminate each day with a performance of the pageant “The Last Escape of Billy the Kid.” Now in its 80th year, local citizens retell the story of the Lincoln County War and Billy the Kid in truly spectacular fashion. The group organizing the pageant is not affiliated with New Mexico Historic Sites, however Historic Sites is pleased to collaborate with them and provide pre-programming support. Performances will be held at the Pageant Grounds at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
