The Carlsbad museum recently received a grant to support the purchase of five paintings by Will Shuster. Funding for this purchase was made possible by a grant from the Carlsbad Community Foundation as well as support from the Carlsbad Museum Amigos Fund, the Edna Parks Carter & Alice Carter Houston Arts & Humanities Memorial Fund, the Feezer Fine Arts Acquisition Fund, the Carlsbad Museum and John and Julia Heaton.

Shuster was a well respected Santa Fe artist famous for building and burning the first ever Zozobra, a giant puppet show now burned every year in effigy. He also created the symbol for the Santa Fe Rodeo. We look forward to seeing several of his paintings on display at our museum. Both our museum and the Halagueno Arts Park have continued to add to their impressive displays over the past few years.
