Debi was born October 3, 1952 in Alamogordo, NM to Nolen Smith and Della Drake Smith.

Debi graduated from Alamogordo High School and moved to Hollis, Oklahoma to live with her sister Elaine. There she met her husband, Bobby Argo, and they were married on May 16, 1971 in Hollis, Oklahoma.

Debi moved to Artesia, NM in 1988 when she and Bobby were invited to pastor at Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church. Debi and Bobby had previously pastored in Crowell, TX, Winters, TX, and Jayton, TX. While Debi loved being a part of each of these previous smaller communities, she was excited to move to her home state where she would be closer to her parents. Debi was also excited to live in a larger town that offered more amenities. Debi was known for her compassion towards those who suffered loss and in 1991 she began providing counseling services through the church after earning her master’s degree and became a licensed Christian Counselor. Debi counseled full time until 1994 and then provided part-time counseling services the rest of her life. Despite many physical setbacks, Debi ministered to hurting people through the church as she held grief/loss classes and provided counseling on an individual basis to those in need when she was physically able to do so. Debi’s impact on the communities where she ministered will carry on well past the time she spent here on earth.

Debi loved her family dearly. She was the best “nana” any grandchild could ask for.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, of 50 years, Bobby Argo; sons Jason Argo of Las Cruces, Timothy Argo of Roswell, and Jared Argo of Artesia; daughter Angel Sherrell of Artesia; brothers Nolen Ellis Smith of San Angelo, Texas, and Stewart Smith of San Angelo, Texas; sister Elaine Wells of Las Cruces; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
