Memorial services for Rex Dean Robinson, 69 year old former Artesia, New Mexico resident, will be held Tuesday, June 22, 202l, 10:00 am at Hermosa Church of Christ, Artesia, New Mexico. Rex passed away June 12, 2021, at Covenant Heart Center in Lubbock, Texas, cremation has taken place under the direction of Combest Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas. Lance Morrissett, will officiate at the service.

Rex was born April 7, 1952, in Truth of Consequences, New Mexico, the son of Harroll Dean Robinson and Minnie Lee (Robinson) Robinson. On July 18, 1981, he married Lisa Nell in Artesia, New Mexico and the couple made Artesia their home until 2015 when they relocated to Carlsbad, New Mexico.

He received his bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University where he played baseball for NMSU and his master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Rex was employed by the Artesia Public Schools where he was a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and elementary technology director until he retired from APS after 40 years of service. As an educator, Rex loved his job, students and colleagues; he always took great interest in each of them. While his children were growing up he helped coach their athletic teams, and he had many hobbies including: playing golf, hunting, fishing, wood crafting and jewel crafting. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lisa of the family home, daughter, Dedi Hanagan and husband Hondo of Houston, Texas; sons, Drew Robinson and wife Kristyne and Barrett Robinson and wife Brianna, of Hobbs, New Mexico. He was fondly known as “GrandDude ” to grandchildren: Kinslee Hanagan, Breleigh Hanagan and Hudson Hanagan of Houston, Texas; Sydney Robinson, Jackson Robinson, Bentley Robinson and Brody Robinson of Hobbs, New Mexico. Brother-in-law Charles Nell and wife Laura, of Lubbock Texas, Nieces Maggie Maney and husband Dusty of Midland, Texas, Katie Nell of Lubbock, Texas. Nephew, Charles Bryan Nell of Lubbock Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents , in-laws Warren and Shirley Nell, Grandparents: W.H. (Homer) and Leeta (Gunn) Robinson; Ina(Moore) Robinson and Samuel Oakie Robinson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Dugan, Larry Ray, Mike Ingram, and Tommy Scroggin.

Rex lived a happy life, he loved his family and valued his friends’ friendship greatly. He lived his life based on, Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
