Artesia has TWO murals in progress at the moment. The archway to Guadalupe Park began the transformation from faint chalk outlines to vibrant living color when the weather warmed up, and Artesia native, Hannah Dean, completed her mural located on the side of the old Bryan’s Printing building across the street from La Fonda. Her mural combines elements of three regional artists: Luis Jimenez, Peter Hurd, and Henriette Wyeth. Viewers delight in spotting a blue quail, prickly pear flowers, a slithering rattlesnake, and hardworking men and women of New Mexico, against the Guadalupe Mountain range. This scene of New Mexico is one of many changes happening downtown and emphasizes the revitalization happening in our local business scene.
