Myka Char’s “The Sight by Night Flight” won best in show during the HeritageFest Online Art Contest. Judging took place last Friday. Some works were local and some were from out of town. The collection included a mixture of photography, graphic art and paintings.
First place was Catrinka Randall’s “Carlsbad: A great act to Swallow.” There was a tie for second place between Kaitlyn Robertson’s “These boots have seen better days,” and Nicolas Chavez’s “Cardo Nico Trey.”
In the age 3-6 category, Wesley Hicks’ “Friendship Park” received a special mention, while Malachi Char’s “FLUME- Child’s Eye View” was recognized in the 7-10 category. Nate Hillam’s “Exploration” received an honorable mention in the 11-14 age category. Finally, George Munoz’s “Enchanting Pieces of Carlsbad” earned a special recognition in the 18+ Category. A special Mayor’s Choice Honorable Mention wen to Tom Kubiak for is “Life Along the Pecos.”
