Carlsbad Cavegirl Varsity soccer team is headed to state championship

Congratulations to the Carlsbad Cavegirl Varsity soccer team! The Cavegirls beat Rio Rancho, 3-2, in the semifinals on Thursday to earn a trip to the state championship. They will play Albuquerque High, who beat Centennial, 5-2, to reach the finals. This year’s state championship will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the UNM Soccer/Track Complex. 

Members of the Cavegirl team are Taylor McCrory, Korrine Bradford, Analicia Hernandez, Morgan Bradley, Alisa Bernal, Dominique Chacon, Madison Loera, Rosalia Rubio, Jessica Munro, Alexa Dugan, Allie Meyers, Aisleen Whitzel, Abbey Dugan, Briley Brantley, Brayle Mullins, Emily Hervol, Kiara Warton, Rylee Whitaker, Savannah Sonora, Rylie Ryan and Marley Suggs. They are coached by Misty Long. Best of luck on Saturday. We will be providing a special escort to the Cavegirls as they leave Carlsbad at 8 a.m. on Saturday for Albuquerque and we hope you’ll join us. The escort will begin in the parking lot on the northwest side of Ralph Bowyer Cavemen Stadium.
