Eddy County Youth Sports broadcasted LIVE

Here’s some more information about how you can watch upcoming Carlsbad High School athletics. The Cavemen host the Artesia Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Friday night in a varsity football game, but the stadium will be closed to the public.

In Carlsbad, Red Rocket and All Sports Best will be broadcasting and announcing most sports, especially home games, free of charge. These games will be broadcast on the Red Rocket, All Sports Best and Carlsbad Cavemen Facebook pages, sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. This week, for example, you’ll be able to watch the 7 p.m. Eddy County War (varsity football) on March 5, the March 6 Cavegirl volleyball game vs. Portales at noon, the March 9 Cavegirl varsity soccer game vs. Goddard at 6 p.m. and the March 10 Cavemen soccer game vs. Ruidoso at 6 p.m. You can watch these streams without having a Facebook account.

There’s also a purchase package set up through what’s called the “NFHS Network”- this will include a combination of the games broadcast above plus Podcast coverage of additional games. You can subscribe to the NFHS Network by visiting www.nfhsnetwork.com and searching for Carlsbad Cavemen. With this subscription, you’ll also be able to watch other teams, away games and state championships.

Our local radio stations are also continuing to broadcast events. Carlsbad Radio plans to broadcast all football games (home and away) on 96.3 FM and 1240 AM. KSVP will be broadcasting Artesia games on KSVP 990 AM and 93.7 and on the KSVP radio app at www.ksvpradio.com. However, a new NMAA rules state that there can only be one video stream per game, so KSVP will not be able to do video (but plans to still do radio) for most away games. Many of us believe these guidelines being imposed on filming are ridiculous and make no sense.

Our local school and sports officials are doing the best they can to sort through all of this. There are certainly a large number of extra hurdles this year, but we are excited about seeing some competitions in place.
