As NMDOT improvements continue on 285, Eddy County is currently upgrading or preparing to upgrade several identified alternate routes
within the County.
- Black River Village Road from 285 to Roadrunner Road has been awarded and construction is under way. Work is estimated to be completed sometime in April.
- Twin Wells Road from 128 to McDonald Road is being upgraded by County crews. Work is estimated to be completed sometime in April.
- Old Cavern Highway from Derrick Road to Black River Village Road has been awarded and construction will begin pending warmer weather.
