Pallbears will be Timothy Martin, Anthony Martin, Benjamin Mermis, James Arnold, Tim Posey and Bill Frank Runyan.
Honorary Pallbears will be grandsons, greatgrandsons and all nephews.
Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Morturary from 2-4 on Tuesday.
Virginia Mae Mermis was 78 years old. She was born December 21, 1942 to Tony S. Padilla and Francis H. Padilla in Albuquerque, NM.
She married Alfred J. Mermis Jr. on August 18, 1962. They spent their life through out New Mexico and Texas areas where Alfred J. Mermis Jr. traveled to completed work. They permanetly moved and settled in Artesia in 1977. Alfred J. Mermis Jr. preceded her in death on June 20, 2015. After her husbands passing Virginia Mae Mermis resided at the Runyan/Martin 4 Mile Ranch in Hope, New Mexico with her daughter Therese Mae Mermis along with her until the time of her death.
Virgina Mae Mermis was an advocate for the Disability Disable Clients and Special Olympics in Artesia New Mexico with Jess McGary and staff since 1977 to 1989. She was also a private caretaker for several people in the Artesia NM, area. She was a homemaker and a stay home parent to a daughter with special needs until the time of her death. She loved life to the fullest and made sure that Therese Mae Mermis was her main priority. She was also a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Leaving behind is 4 children. Therese Mae Mermis (daughter) of Artesia, NM, Mark Mermis Sr. (son) of Ruidoso, NM, Karen A. Martin husband Ray of Hope, NM and Cheryl Bonilla husband Mike of Albuquerque, NM. One brother Robert Padilla in Albuqerque, NM.
Nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
