Keeping up with NM Public Education Updates

school

Some additional information is now available about the state’s plan allowing schools to re-open schools by Feb. 8.  The plan requires masking, extra cleaning and more spacing of students, with schools being opened in the hybrid mode (typically half a week of in-person schooling). Additionally, 12% to 25% of teachers from each district will have to participate in COVID-19 testing.  Schools with numerous positive tests during a short time will also have to close for two weeks.

Strict rules on air filters have been changed, which means many schools will no longer have to replace their entire ventilation systems. School sports could resume by Feb. 22 if there isn’t a high spike in cases, according to state officials.  For more information on the state’s guidelines, please visit https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/reentry-district-and-school-guidance/.
