Nila was born August 5, 1934 in Carlsbad N.M., the daughter of Lowell Naylor and Marjorie (Wingfield) Naylor. Artesia did not yet have a hospital, but she always said she was born and raised in Artesia and was proud of it.

Nila graduated from Artesia High School in 1952 and went straight to work at Guy Chevrolet Company where she met the love of her life, Jimmie Martin, who would become her husband on August 28, 1953. They had one child, Cindy, in 1964. She began work for the Yates family in 1967. She went to work with the John A. Yates family in 1986 and was there until her retirement September 30, 2015. Nila loved her job and working was her main hobby. She also loved to go to shows in Las Vegas, NV. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include daughter Cindy Dixon; granddaughter Caryn Marie Dixon; grandson Daniel Dixon; sister Sharon Snowden; brother Jimmy Naylor and wife Carol; nephew Jimmy D Naylor and wife Jaque; niece Aleene Ivy and husband Larry; nephew Bobby Snowden; and many more beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, which Nila has been a member since she was 12 years old; or charity of your choice in honor of Nila’s giving spirit.
