The New Mexico Department of Health has recently introduced a new kind of COVID test at several of its health offices, including the ones in Carlsbad and Artesia. These new oral swabs are self-collected and do not require a medical professional to administer them. The DOH also says that the tests are less invasive and can result in faster result times. Hours for the Carlsbad Public Health Office, at West Stevens, are 8-11:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8-11:30 a.m. Friday. Preregister online at https://cvtestreg.nmhealth.org. Call (575) 885-4191 if you have any difficulty registering online.
