Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Abelardo V. Montes of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Montes, 73, died September 26, 2020 in Artesia.

Father Vijay will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pompello Gabaldon, Anthony Granados, Julian Granados, Thomas Granados, Christopher Michael Montes, and Demitrious Montes. Honorary pallbearers will be Javen Garcia and Cristian Montes.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM Thursday. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 AM Thursday.

Abelardo was born July 3, 1947 in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico to Sylvestre Montes and Carmen Valles Montes.
Abelardo was a well known and very respected man hardworking selfless and always had a smile on his face ready to make you laugh. He will be greatly missed bye all who ever had the pleasure of calling him friend,padrino,tio,father or husband.. His hobbies included keeping his yard and vehicles perfectly clean and well kept. He loved taking trips to the casinos with his better half of 57 years Maria. He loved going to work and took so much pride in everything he did whether it was growing vegetables in his garden or working and giving selflessly of himself to provide for his family. He believed that nothing was free in this life and you have too work hard to earn what you have . He loved life and always believed life was a gift and we we’re lucky to have, and never make excuses for your life. There’s no such thing as a good life or bad life only life SIEMPRE PARA ADELANTE.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rodrigo Montes.

Survivors include his wife Mary Montes; sons Steven Montes, Abelardo Jr. Montes, and Christopher Montes; he also raised his God-son Bulmaro Sifuentes; a brother Martin Montes; sisters Lupa Granados, and Alicia Chavarria; 5 grandchildren Patricia, Katrina, Mikey,Cianne and Cristian7 great-grandchildren.
Jayvien,Jonavon Jonathan, Audrina, Demitrious, Diamonyque and Mairo Enrique.
