Obituary for Autherean Prude

Autherean Prude, 88, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister passed away on September 7, 2020. Autherean was born on November 09, 1931, in Kirvin, Texas: the daughter of A. R. (Arch) Horton and Carrie Horton. On May 3, 1952, she was married to Norman Prude in Artesia, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2011.

Autherean was homemaker and member of the Hermosa Church of Christ. She was very actively involved with her church family for many years. She could be found in the kitchen of the church during most of the church social gatherings making sure there was food available for everyone. The Artesia Hospital Auxiliary held a special place in her heart. She spent countless hours managing and cooking for the snack bar at the Artesia General Hospital. When the snack bar closed, she continued managing the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store for a number of years. Autherean was huge supporter of Eddy County 4-H and served as a leader of the Kountry Kids 4-H while her children were involved in 4-H. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing ceramics at the Senior Center and at home.

Her parents and an infant son preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Linda Purcella and husband Les of Roswell, Sue Prude of Artesia, and son Mike Prude and wife Jessica of Artesia; sister Erlene Newcomb of Houston Texas; niece Jenny Newcomb; grandchildren Carrie Ann Purcella, Micah Purcella, Ty Prude and wife Whitney; Mandy Mereness and husband Kory and Andy Prude. Great-grandchildren include; Annabelle and William Clark; Peter, Luke and Miles Mereness.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
