This week the governor said anyone who doesn’t faces a $100 fine. It’s not just New Mexicans who have to follow these rules.
“We are putting up message boards, portable message boards. Those are some of the smaller signs you’re going to see that are on the road sides,” said Department of Transportation spokeswoman, Marisa Maez.
Maez says larger signs hanging over interstates will also have messages about COVID health rules in New Mexico.
“If you come into the state and spend more than one night or more here, then you need to plan on staying here quite a while, we need you here 14 days,” she said.
She said the same rules apply if you’re a New Mexican and travel out of state. Once you return, you should quarantine for 14 days.
The state has set up a web site to report health violations. It is COVID.ENFORCEMENT@.
