Obituary for Cruz J. Lara

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Cruz.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Cruz J. Lara of Artesia, New Mexico.

Cruz. Lara, 62, died June 21, 2020 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX.

Fr. V.J. will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Savalo Gurrola, Jacob Lara, Benny Hernandez, Steven Molina, Teddy Molina, Daniel Molina.

A rosary will be recited Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace.

Cruz was born December 25, 1957 in Artesia the son of Antonio Lara and Lillia (Lugo) Lara

He worked for Navajo Refining for over 25 years as an operator a job he loved.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and, spending time with his grandchilldren. He never met a stranger and was known and loved by many, always with a smile on his face and a joke to follow.

On April 26,1985 he married the love of his life Diane in Carlsbad, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Lillia Lara, Brothers Tony Lara and Johnny Lara.

Cruz is survived by his son CJ Lara, his daughter Amanda and husband Sean Rodriguez , and Sonya Hernandez a niece that he considered a daughter and his beloved grandchildren Atreyu, Kylie, Emma Rodriguez. His brother Jimmy Lara and wife Norma, Manuel Lara and wife Frances, Sistesr Flavia Martineaz and husband Hector, Helen Molina and husband Sunny,and Diana Lara as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
