The United Way’s Eddy County reported a generous $20,000 donation from ConocoPhillips to their COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. The fund has helped provide relief to numerous individuals throughout the COVID-19 shutdown.

United Way of Eddy County launched a COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund with the dual purpose of both granting funding to nonprofits and to provide direct services to local families that are struggling because of the national pandemic.

“I am incredibly pleased that we have been able to provide this type of support to our community during one of our most volatile times.  We want to ensure nonprofits and others on the front line have the necessary financial resources to continue their work,” said Linda Dodd, executive director of United Way of Eddy County.

Non Profit Grants will range from $500 – $2,000 and will be evaluated weekly, based on community need.  “It is important for us to get this money out to the community as quickly as possible, as the needs arise.  We understand the need is today, but the need will continue as the weeks go on,” said Breanna Shields, Grant Review Committee Chair.  Nonprofts can apply for a grant online at www.uweddyco.org/COVID19grant.

In addition to providing support to local nonprofits, United Way of Eddy County will be providing direct services to families to assist with basic needs such as housing, utilities and food essentials.   Families that have lost income due to work hours decreasing, layoffs or added expenses due to closures will be the priority.   Families can apply for assistance online at www.uweddyco.org/COVID19.

Thanks as well to ConocoPhillips, who has always been willing to support Carlsbad and the surrounding area.
