The New Mexico Department of Health has reported that a man in his late 70s from Eddy county died Sunday, March 22nd. The man went to Artesia General Hospital on Sunday where his condition deteriorated rapidly and he died the same day.

A COVID-19 test was performed locally and on Tuesday the test was confirmed positive. According to the NMDOH the man had multiple chronic underlying health issues.
